February’s Call – A Poem by Brandon White

Hello Friends,

A frozen morning spent in deep thought about the bad habits that, in our grief, silently, become as familiar as our own hands. February is a difficult month. A free verse poem follows:

February’s Call:

I’m happy to report
that the poems
were more than a product
of my grief

They were
a vehicle
for me to send
you back into the world,

a way to tear you
from the hands of finality
to breathe new life
on the page

I still catch you
in the corner of my eye,
on the edges
of memory,

calling from the blood
that warms the hand
that soothes your grandchild's
aching knees

Friends, I’ve added space below for anyone interested in donating to help maintain this site and aid in the production and promotion of new poetry collections. I’ve always been hesitant to include anything like this here, but after being asked by multiple people, I thought I would give it a shot. Donations ARE NOT expected, but certainly appreciated!
