Grip – A Poem by Brandon White

Hello Friends,

A free verse poem waits below. Enjoy.

Grip:

I feel like standing
beneath scalding water
until I'm stripped
to the bone

There's no shame
like trying to fit the mold
That’s the stuff that
fucks with the soul,

the kind of thing
that slowly dims the light
in your eyes and makes you
unrecognizable to your mother

So why is it so hard
to unclench the fist
when you already know
the hand is empty?
